Pirates 7 - Knights 5

Knights started this game again with a depleted lineup missing some key players (Asif, Mark, Nathan, Dipper). We started the game with 2 penalties with Pirates scoring twice. With Knights shorthanded again late in the 1st half Kulvir Kaila intercepted a pass in the neutral zone and blasted a shot past Pirates netminder. Knights dominated most of the 1st half with shot after shot but could not score. Second half Knights tied it with a Ryan "Bollywood" Bhala making a beautiful pass to The Machine who blasted it past Jas "The Apna Pirate" Basra. Towards middle of the second half Pirates scored 3 times in 3 minute span to take the lead, Knights fought back to make it a one goal game however Pirates iced it with a minute to go. Gur "The Tank" Randhawa had about 20 shots on net but could not beat Pirates stellar goalie.

Knights battled hard this game and showed a gutsy effort fighting to come back down 3 goals. Unfortunate time to get into a mini slump late in the season, hopefully our missing team-mates can make remaining 4 games so we can finish strong heading into the playoffs. Knights destiny still lies in their own hands in finishing first with some key games with Panthers, Pirates, DBacks and Kings.

Knights 6 - 3 Sabres

The Knights and Sabres met for the third and final time last Sunday evening in a game that was just as important as any other as the Knights are going down the stretch here looking for a first place finish and that all important first week bye in the playoffs. It took a while for the offense to get started in this one but when it did it came in waves. Clayton Weston and Mark Melim struck within seconds of each other to make it a 2-0 game and then Melim added another minutes after to make it a 3 to 0 lead in the first half. The Knights thinking they were going to blow out the Sabres took this game a little too lightly and it showed on the scoreboard as the Sabres stormed back to make it a 3 to 2 game. The Knights then took over again in the second half and scored three more times to make it a 6 to 3 final. An ugly win but we'll take it. Melim ended with 4 goals as he had the finishing touch in this one with Bhala adding 3 helpers to go along. The top line combined for 10 points as they have carried the Knights this season game after game. The second line is showing promise as Sid the frickin Kid Mcshane has become a regular in the last few games and adds that much needed grit and grind that is needed on that line. He opens up a lot of room out there for the others to do their thing. Ballhogs are next on the schedule which i think will be the game of the year for the Knights. Already have beaten the Hogs twice this year this time around they will ice a more dangerous lineup with league leading goal scorer Harp Kalkut. Both teams have been hot as of late and it should be a dandy of a game.

Generals 4 - Knights 7

The Brighouse Knights and the Burnaby Generals faced off for the third and final time this year against each other with the series tied at one win a piece. The Knights had a small turnout for this important game with only nine guys making the trip out to New West going with 5 forwards and 4 defenseman..(pathetic!!). The Knights got off to a slow start by getting into penalty trouble early on with the Generals countering and taking advantage and going up 2 to 0. Knights however didn't panic they then stayed out of the box and started to frustrate the Generals who then started to take penalty after penalty leading to a couple of power play goals for the Knights. Mark Melim, Ryan Bhala, Sid the Kid Mcshane, and Nathan Brown had one tally each while Mandy "the sniper" Parmar had two in this game as he was moved up to the right wing from Defense, because of forward personnel shortage, and did a great job finishing on the plays. This win was an excellent team effort by the players that showed up and they played like a first place team by not panicking when down 2 to 0 to the defending champs and then grinding them down and then letting their skill take over for the win. Kahle was also stellar in between the pipes. Coming down the stretch here we HAVE to start getting a consistant turnout by our team members... 10 guys can't win every game! This game was also a ruff affair as their were a couple of cheapshot hits by the classless Generals as they targeted Clayton Weston for the most part of the game. Gur "The tank" Randhawa played like a Tank set a precedent by going after the generals best defenseman Zorin Babic and forward Tyler by giving them a shot in the head and then running him over letting the Generals know that we won't be pushed around. He also drew 3 penalties out of the Generals and screened General's goalie on PP which led to 3 crucial goals. One other note... with 18 seconds left in the game we were up by two goals and Mark Melim blocks a shot with his face pretty much!!.... thats what we call a team player!!!!!! Great effort keep it up this could be the year boys!

Score was actually 7-4 with Ryan "I have a twitch" Bhala scoring in the empty net but scorekeeper was too busy attending to bloodied casualties of war that he forgot to write it down.

Knights were missing Asif, Kal, Bindy, Kulvir, Dipper, Sandip in this game.
