Knights 5 - Kings 2

The Knights came into this game with an impressive 4-1-1 record and surprisingly with their regular full roster minus Mark 'ooooh my nuts Melim. The Kings lineup supported by a young, feisty group was looking to upset the first place Knights on this Friday night but fell short as the Knights played one of their most complete games of the year. It was a penalty filled affair as the Kings scored both of their goals on the powerplay and the Knights scored 4 out of 5 goals on their powerplay. The top two lines for the Knights led the way offensively as Brian' Sid the frickin Kid' Mcshane started things off by jamming in a rebound past Kings goalie Rick Baker. Nathan 'Ill show up to every other game' Brown also got one in close as he pinched in from the point and buried it after a couple of wacks at the ball. Kulvir 'i'm finding my role' Kaila scored on a beauty set up by Asif 'Koivu' Lalani on the powerplay and then a couple of powerplays later Ryan Bhala netted his 6th goal of the year on a similiar play on a set up by Clayton 'the machine' Weston. Weston also scored one on a nice pass by Ryan 'i gotta hit the net' Bhala. The line of the Tank Randhawa, Dipper' Don't Fuck with Me' Kaila and Bindi 'All in' Auluk were an intimidating force to be reconed with as they played hard and had an excellent game shutting down the other teams top lines. Kal 'injury prone' Sanghera also had a decent game playing the shut down centerman and also had some good scoring chances as he and Lalani, known as the two magicians, were paired up for most of the game. Kevin 'mickey of crown' Singh played well on defence again as he has elevated his gameplay for the last few games as did Dave Federko who was solid and Mandy' don't call me a fat pig' Parmar, who missed the last game because he benched himself for having a terrible game the game before, had a better performance this game. Rob Kahle made big save after big save as he robbed the kings best forward as he was deked, Kahle stuck out his glove and made a Luongo like save to keep the Knights ahead and secure the 5 to 2 victory putting the Knights record at 5-1-1 for 1st place in the Arenex B Div. A lot of good things came out of this game as we improved on our power play by working the ball down low and using the other winger coming in high in the slot for the shot ... still could be better as we have to brush up on a couple of things still ... but if we keep getting out the same players and keep getting consistent good play out of EVERY player we should be a difficult team to beat. Everyone is finding their role on this team. We have a chance this year to potentially go all the way so lets not fuck it up!! Also the chatter on the bench has been positive on the most part and the yelling at each other has been kept to a minimum so thats another plus. We have to stay out of the penalty box GUR!!! But at the same time play aggressively and fore check the other teams defense hard. Next game should be the toughest one so far for us as the top two teams battle next Sunday night. The diamondbacks are a tough physical team that have good goal tending and could score goals if given the chance. Overall this was a scrappy game with Kings taking 36 minutes and Knights 32 minutes in penalties. Both teams had 2 players each involved in scraps resulting in game misconducts. Knights won both scraps :)
